Scholarships for Master in European Legal Studies offered by Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg

Published Thursday March 25 2021

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg (MFEA) is now welcoming applications for scholarships to attend the Master of European Legal Studies (MELS Online) 2021-2023 promotion. These scholarships are available to applicants from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Turkey. The purpose of this scholarship is to allow six qualified candidates, who have already started their professional career, to attend a Master programme in European Legal Studies in Luxembourg.

The Master of European Legal Studies (MELS Online) is offered by the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) in Luxembourg, in partnership with the University of Lorraine in France. The mission of EIPA is to provide high-quality training courses to develop the capacities of professionals, national and regional public administrations dealing with EU affairs, as well as the European Institutions.

The MELS Online is a unique study programme adapted to align with students’ existing professional responsibilities, and the completion of this programme can be the perfect springboard for the next step in a professional career. The MELS Online programme is designed to achieve two principal aims: to provide an initial background to the fundamental issues underlying the European integration process; and to offer progressive and increasing specialisation in the vast field of European law, with a view to enabling students to deal with legal questions in a practical way. This is a fantastic opportunity for professionals looking to deepen their knowledge in the field of European law, and no prior degree in law is required to participate in the programme. For more information on the Master of European Legal Studies, please visit the EIPA website:

For six beneficiaries, the scholarship will cover the full tuition fee, including access to all online sessions and materials for distance learning. Scholarship beneficiaries will also receive a contribution towards international air travel expenses over 2 academic years for 8 travels to Luxembourg for up to €4,900, as well as a contribution towards daily costs in Luxembourg when attending the face-to-face courses (once Covid-19-related travel restrictions have been lifted).
